Whenever an actor has something negative to say about a film the acted in, it’s news. Especially if it is a film like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that has received a bunch of criticism from outside sources. So, while Jeremy Irons’ critique of the film might be the softest snipe the film got, we still need to address it.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Irons addressed the critics of the world using BvS as a kickball. This is what he said:
Deservedly so. I mean it took £800 million, so the kicking didn’t matter but it was sort of overstuffed…It was very muddled. I think the next one will be simpler. The script is certainly a lot smaller, it’s more linear.
Calling the film “overstuffed” and “muddled” sounds almost like a complement compared to the vitriol aimed at the film by others. However, as per the “rules” that come along with criticizing this film, I guess we have to add Irons to the list of people being paid by Marvel. Lucky guy, that Irons, get paid by both Warners and Marvel for the same film.
And that “next one” most likely will be Justice League, Part One, unless of course, Warners moves The Batman into that spot.
