Dwayne Johnson Confirms He Is Shane Black’s DOC SAVAGE

For some time now, writer/director Shane Black has been working on bringing the 1930s and 40s pulp hero adventurer Doc Savage and one of the biggest questions among fans of the character has been who will Black get to play him. A precursor to Superman, Doc is a physically fit six-foot, eight-inches tall who is also one of the smartest men in the world, so the role will not only be a physical one, but one that would require the acting chops to convey the character’s charisma and intelligence.

It appears as if the answer to that question has been found.

In an Instagram post, Dwayne Johnson showed off his work space while on location in Georgia and in the course of describing his system for keeping track of all his projects stated “On the iPad I’m reading an outline for a cool movie I’ll make in 2017 (with director Shane Black)…”

Finding our anchor. When I'm shooting on location I always need a space where I can work and keep building the enterprise. Here in Georgia this has been my space for months now. Keepin' it country. Every film, TV show, partnership and project we develop gets handled from here. When I feel good about it, it goes in the pile to the left that clearly reflects my OCD. When I'm still making adjustments, it stays on the pile on the right. All contracts that need signing remain in the middle. On the iPad I'm reading an outline for a cool movie I'll make in 2017 (with director Shane Black) and when I get tired and need a lil' pick me up, the shaker cup holds a special shot of energy – Elk piss. The more complicated our lives get, the more we need simple spaces like this to anchor us. In simplistic terms, find your work space and anchor to help you keep your shit together. #AndDontTryDrinkingElkPiss #IWasKidding #ItsLionBlood 😉⚓️

While Black does have a number of projects currently in development, Doc Savage seems to be the priority right now. Previously, Black had stated that he would like to see Johnson in the role of Doc.

Meanwhile, Johnson is in the midst of wrapping up filming on Baywatch and will be immediately heading to the set of Fast 8, which starts shooting next week. He also has the Jumanji remake, Rampage, San Andreas 2 and another season of HBO’s Ballers on his immediate “To Do” list.
