Anxious to see what is in store for the Ridley Scott-produced Blade Runner 2 film? Well, good news. You’ll have three months less to wait for it. Alcon Entertainment has moved the release date for the upcoming sequel to science-fiction classic to October 6, 2017.
Previously, the film had been slated for a January 2018 premier.
The move puts the film into the middle of awards season, perhaps giving us an indication of Alcon’s hopes and expectations for the film. That date is already been claimed by Twentieth Century Fox for an as yet untitled Marvel film, which could be the Deadpool sequel that they are fast-tracking. Warner Brothers have also announced plans to release an untitled event film on that weekend. Odds are that someone will move.
Blade Runner star Harrison Ford is returning for the follow-up and will be joined by Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright and Dave Bautista. Sicario’s Denis Villeneuve is directing from a script by Michael Green and original Blade Runner screenwriter Hampton Fancher providing the script.
