Rock icon Elton John is entering the spy game. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the singer is currently in negotiations to co-star in The Knigsman: The Golden Circle, the sequel to 2014’s surprise hit action comedy The Kingsman.
John will be joining returning stars Taron Egerton, Mark Strong and possibly Colin Firth (yeah, we know he died in the last movie) and newcomers to the franchise Julianne Moore, Halle Berry and Pedro Pascal.
Although there is no word on the character that John could be playing, the Reporter suggests that he could be playing himself. Which makes sense as he has never realised played a character other than himself in all of his various TV appearances. If that is so, I have to wonder if he is playing himself what sort of twist will they put on his character? Will he be a fellow spy? Or perhaps he’ll be revealed to be some sort of bad guy, playing evil against his easygoing public persona, which could be fun. (Mike Myers used a similar twist with David Hasselhoff in his unproduced script dieter, based on his popular Saturday Night Live character.)
