There is a bit of a shakeup today within the cast of Marvel Studio’s Thor: Ragnarok. According to a report from the Hollywood Reporter, Creed co-star Tessa Thompson has joined the cast in an undisclosed role being described as a “lead” one. However, within the news of Thompson’s addition comes word that Natalie Portman, who has played love interest Jane Foster in the two previous Thor films, will not be returning for the third.
Thompson will of course be joining Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Jamie Alexander as Sif and Cate Blanchett in another undisclosed role.
Previous reports have said that the film might not be spending too much time on Earth but instead be traipsing among the various otherworldly realms we’ve previously glimpsed in the Thor films, so it doesn’t seem like much of a surprise that Portman’s character might not be involved in the story.
