It is fair to say that writer Max Landis is a somewhat divisive person among film fans. He has his detractors and fans, his proponents and critics. And the conversation is about to go another few rounds this weekend as Landis’s first feature film as a director, Me Him Her, goes into release. A trailer for the film was released a few weeks ago, but apparently Landis wasn’t happy with it as he has released this re-edited version.
The film is a step away from the fantasy stories that the writer of Chronicle and Victor Frankenstein is probably best known for. In it, Luke Bracey stars as a closeted TV star whose secret may be outed with the arrival of his friend, played by Dustin Milligan. An encounter with a lesbian (Emily Meade) who is still smarting from her own recent breakup only further complicates things. knowing Landis’s work, I doubt that the film will come out quite like the `90s indie comedy that short description makes it sound like. At least this new trailer doesn’t give that impression.
Me Him Her goes into limited release and will be available through Video On Demand on March 11.
