To somewhat misquote Mel Brooks in History Of The World Part One, “It’s good to be Ryan Reynolds.”
When you have a hit movie which pretty much doubled the box office take that analysts predicted, you tend to be Hollywood’s golden boy of the moment. And with Deadpool currently the reigning champ at the box office, he is already starting to leverage that status.
Deadline is reporting that the actor is in talks to star in Life, a science-fiction drama which would reteam him with his Safe House director Daniel Espinosa as well as his Deadpool screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Rebecca Ferguson, who impressed many last summer in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, has already been attached to the project.
The film will center on a manned mission to Mars that discovers intelligence life.
Skydance is producing the film which will be distributed by Paramount. And presumably all are anxious to get this in front of cameras as soon as possible. currently Ferguson is shooting the drama The Girl On The Train. It still hasn’t been confirmed if she will be returning for Mission: Impossible 6, but that is not set to shoot until later this year. At best, Fox would not be able to get Deadpool 2 shooting until later in the year as well, so it possible that this could go fairly quickly.
