We’re still a few weeks away from the March 3rd unveiling of the first full Ghostbusters trailer, but thanks to the New York TOY Fair event going on this week, we have gotten a look at the big supernatural bad that the four ladies will be squaring off against in the film’s finale.
And yes, he does look a bit familiar.
In the video below, a rep from toy manufacturer Mattel names the baddie the somewhat mundane name of Rowan. But that doesn’t quite allay my concerns about the meta nature of the character’s design. We know that in the movie, this new iteration of Ghostbusters use the same logo as the classic version did. Is this case where they defeat Rowan and design their patch post-victory? Or do they face off against an evil entity that requires them to choose its form, and rather than think of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, someone thinks about their already designed patch?
We’ll find out this July.
