Vin Diesel and director D. J. Caruso are gearing up to make XXX 3 an international affair. Twitch is reporting that action stars Jet Li and Tony Jaa and Indian superstar actress Deepika Padukone are all up for roles in the upcoming action sequel.
Li, of course, has been a Hong Kong action star since the early 1990s thanks to such films as the Once Upon A Time In China series. Starting in 1998 and the film Lethal Weapon 4, he has split his time between Hollywood productions and Hong Kong films. Most recently for US audiences, Li has been seen in Sylvester Stallone’s Expendables films. Before XXX star Diesel and Jaa worked together on the recent Furious 7, Jaa had made a exploded onto the action film scene with the Thai martial arts film Ong-Bak in 2003. Before are great additions to the cast, even if there is no word yet as to whether or not they will be playing good guys or bad guys in the film.
Perhaps less known to US audiences, is Indian actress Deepika Padukone. A huge star in her home country thanks to her work in such films as Om Shanti Om and the recently released Tamasha, Twitch is reporting that Padukone’s character will be on the side of the angels.
With Caruso and Diesel adding the likes of these three actors you can see that are definitely hedging their bets on being able to bring in audiences around the word with the film. And that is probably a good idea a it has been over a decade since the last XXX film, State Of The Union, and that didn’t even feature Diesel. It is looking like the actor does not just want the Fast And Furious to be his only international hit franchise.
Currently, XXX 3 has no release date scheduled. The screenplay is by Chad St. John and F. Scott Frazier.
