So on Christmas eve, when all good website editors were off decking the halls and such, the Weinstein Company released this great video of directors Paul Thomas Anderson and Quentin Tarantino discussing their use of 70mm film for their films The Master and the just released The Hateful Eight. It’s a lively conversation that covers both directors memories of the great 70mm film releases of the past, their own artistic impulses to film in the format as well as the difficulties they encountered in releasing their films in the format. Tarantino also expresses his displeasure at filmmakers being left out of the conversation that led up to the switch to digital projection for theatrical films.
(Note – There are a couple of F-bombs that get dropped so if you are in an environment where you should, get those headphones on.)
