Scarlett Johansson is in talks to star in the comedy Move That Body for Sony Pictures.
The script, by Broad City stars Lucia Aniello and Paul W Downs hit this year’s Black List of best currently unproduced screenplays after it launched a bidding war in June when it was first shopped around to the studios.
If she signs, Johansson will star as one of five friends who rent a Miami beach house for a bachelorette weekend and wind up accidentally killing a male stripper. Deadline is reporting that the project is shooting for an R rating.
At first blush, the logline for the film does suggest some strong similarities to other comedies such as Very Bad Things or a cross between The Hangover and Weekend At Bernie’s. But while she has starred in some dark comedies like Ghost World or Lost In Translation. Johansson has yet to headline a film that was more raucous and in the vein of the films that Move That Body seem to be drawing inspiration from. It should be interesting to see how she acquits herself in this new territory.
Aniello and Downs are also working on a 21 Jump Street spinoff film for Sony.
