Kurt Russell has had an interesting career, going from a kid that kicked Elvis Presley in the shin to playing Elvis Presley in a TV movie, from a computer that wore tennis shoes to one of the Hateful Eight. Now the actor might be entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe as one of company’s most eagerly awaited characters.
The Wrap is stating that Marvel Studios has an eye on Russell to play Peter Quill’s father in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The site makes it clear that Russell hasn’t even read the script yet, let alone been made an official offer, but that meetings between the studio and Russell should begin soon.
On a purely knee jerk reaction, Russell seems like the perfect choice for the role. He looks enough like Chris Pratt that you’d believe he was from the same bloodline. He also has played enough of the lovable rogue in the past that he’d be a match for Pratt in that arena as well. And he’s no stranger to science fiction, with roles inĀ Stargate, The Thing and Escape From New York.
Although, it is important to note that this is all very early in the process, and so many things can go wrong so that this doesn’t happen. So don’t get your hopes up too high and keep your fingers crossed.
