Leave it to Marvel. If you are a British or Australian actor or actress of any standing, Marvel will probably cast you in their films.
The Hollywood Reporter states that Cate Blanchett is in final talks to join the cast of Thor: Ragnarok. No word on who the two-time Oscar-winner would be playing, but there are supposed to be some meaty female parts in the film for her to play.
Blanchett is no stranger to geek-friendly cinema. Whatever her role is in this film, it will be a small leap from the sword and sorcery genre of The Lord of the Rings films, where she played Galadriel. And she has big-budget blockbuster sequel experience from her work in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom Crystal Skull.
The fact that Marvel is in serious negotiations with a high-profile actress who has won an Oscar just last year might be a sign of what the new era of Marvel Studios will be now that it is freed from Ike Perlmutter and his stranglehold on the company’s purse strings.
Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled to hit theaters on July 28, 2017.

Cate is actually Australian, not British.
Thanks. Fixed it.
