Tom Cruise isn’t the only star of the 1986 hit Top Gun who will be returning for the proposed sequel. Val Kilmer, took to Facebook to confirm that he has may be reprising his role of LT Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in the upcoming Top Gun 2.

Now it should be noted that his original post ended at “let’s fire up some fighter jets again!!!” and the balance, the slightly more cautionary and tempered part where he said that the movie was still a long ways off, was edited in later.
Currently, Top Gun 2 is still moving through development with no scheduled production start or release date announced yet. The Jungle Book screenwriter Justin Marks turning in the most recent draft of the script, working off of a draft by Peter Craig (The Town). That script will reportedly look at the role of fighter pilots in the age of drone warfare.
