WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES Has Begun Filming

War for the Planet of the Apes

War has broken out!

Or, perhaps more correctly, filming on the upcoming sequel War For The Planet Of The Apes has begun. Director Matt Reeves made the announcement yesterday via his twitter account.

If you are a Planet of the Apes fan, than you know that Reeves picture, someone on horseback along the beach, is an echo of one of the most iconic moments in the entire franchise. Certainly an intriguing picture to dangle out in front of fans.

All we really know about the film is that Reeves co-wrote the script for the sequel with Mark Bomback and that some plot threads left dangling at the end of 2014’s Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes will be picked up as we continue to see the struggle for survival between humans and the artificially augmented apes. Andy Serkis will be back as Caesar and will be joined by Gabriel Chavarria, Steve Zahn and Woody Harrelson.

War For The Planet Of The Apes is set for release on July 14, 2017.
