Eve Hewson Lands Role Of Marion In ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS

Robin Hood

Robin Hood has found his Maid Marion, or at least Lionsgate has. The studio has cast Eve Hewson in the lead female role of their upcoming Robin Hood: Origins. Hewson will be starring opposite Kingsman: The Secret Service‘s Taron Egerton.

Joby Harolds’ script for the project is reported to be a gritty retelling of the early days of the legendary hero as he returns from the Crusades to find Sherwood Forest and Nottingham overrun with corruption and takes steps to rectify things. Otto Bathurst is set to direct.

This is just one of four Robin Hood related projects currently in development. Disney’s version, titled Nottingham & Hood, is reported to be aiming for a tone similar to their Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise. Warner Brothers is reportedly developing a futuristic take on the legend, while Sony’s Hood from writers Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott which has been described oddly and intriguingly as “Fast & Furious meets Mission: Impossible” and the first installment of a “shared universe.”

Even though the production start for Robin Hood: Origins needed to be pushed back due to Egerton’s commitment to a Kingsman sequel, it still appears it will be the first of the four projects to get in front of the cameras.
