When the big screen adaptation of the 1970s cop drama ChiPs goes into production, co-star/writer/director Dax Shepard will be able to use the carpool lane to get to the set as his wife Kristen Bell has been added to the cast, according to The Wrap.
Bell is the latest addition to the cast the will feature Shepard, Michael Pena, Adam Brody and Rosa Salazar. Vincent D’Onofrio will be adding his particular brand of villainous flair to the role of the film’s bad guy.
Whereas the original series, which ran from 1977 to 1983 on NBC, was primarily a straight up cop drama, this new version of the story of two California Highway Patrol motorcycle officers will be a buddy cop movie with Shepard and Pena in the roles originated by Larry Wilcox and Erik Estrada.
