‘Saturday Night Live’ Presents Lost Alternate Ending To CASABLANCA

SNLCasablanca

Last night, Saturday Night Live unveiled a previously unseen alternate ending to the 1942 classic Casablanca. Well, not really.

Honestly, this bit is probably not as good as the old classic “Alternate Ending to It’s A Wonderful Life” in which Jimmy Stewart (as played by Dana Carvey)leads the residents of Bedford Falls in beating the tar out of Mr. Potter (Jon Lovitz). This time we have guest host J K Simmons in Humphrey Bogart’s role of Rick Blaine and Kate McKinnon as Ingrid Bergman’s Ilsa, who realizes that maybe hightailing it away from the Nazis with Victor Lazlo is probably a pretty good idea. But it does generate a couple of good jokes and gets extra credit for sliding in a Sophie’s Choice reference and for keeping the whole in the original Academy ratio.
