The twisted soap opera that is The Interview just entered a new chapter.
Sony has announced that it will release the film in a limited amount of theater on Christmas day.
This move seems to be in response to the negative reaction Sony received, from critics ranging from George R.R. Martin to President Barack Obama, when it decided to shelf the film due to threats from the cyber-terrorist group, Guardians of Peace.
The exact number and locations of the theaters is unknown at this time, as negotiations are still going on. Austin’s Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, have already announced that they will be showing the film. Theaters in Dallas, Atlanta, Washington, D.C. and Houston have also expressed interest in showing the films. No word as to whether Regal Entertainment, AMC Entertainment, Cinemark, Carmike Cinemas and Cineplex Entertainment are rethinking their decision not to show the film.
Sony also stated that they were entertaining releasing the film on Video On Demand at some point in the future.
