If this week’s release of the Extended Edition of The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug wasn’t enough to whet your appetites for December’s upcoming release of the final installment of Peter Jackson’s adaptation of J R R Tolkien’s novel, then how about this – A new trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies. The trailer forgoes showing much action from the film’s opening scenes in which those of us who have read the book know will feature the attack of the dragon Smaug on Laketown. Instead, it gives us lots of views of what will make up the two big big conflicts that will climax the story – the battle between Gandalf and the other wizards against the Necromancer in Dol Guldor and battle between dwarves, elves, orcs, men and more on the slopes of the Lonely Mountain.
And with the film just six weeks away from its December 17th release date, I do bittersweetly note that this is very likely the last time will be teased with visions of what Peter Jackson has in store for us.
