There may have been reports of some second unit shooting already, but principal photography on Disney’s Star Wars: Episode VII under the direction of J J Abrams has gotten underway. To note the event, Abrams Bad Robot production shingle tweeted out the below picture of the day’s shooting’s production slate.

Before the news broke that Disney had bought Lucasfilm and was going to be launching a new wave of live action Star Wars films, most people thought that the book was fully closed on the Star Wars franchise. But over the last 16 months, things have been slowly shaping up and moving towards this day. Rumors about casting, directors and writers have been a regular feature now over that time. And, we’re only almost halfway to the film’s December 2015 release date. The ride is only going to get more exciting.
