Well, the inevitable is here- the first set photo of Star Wars: Episode VII!
The photo, and a few more, come via The National, who have been on the hunt for a possible location filming ever since it was revealed that the film could be shooting in the region. Although there has been no official confirmation from Disney and Lucasfilm, the National is certain that these photos of white tents set up deep in the Abu Dhabi desert near the Qasr Al Sarab resort is the real thing.
So, what exactly are we looking at? Some sites are speculating that that big round gray slab could be a portion of the escape pod used by C-3P0 and R2-D2 used in the very first Star Wars film while others are seeing one of the leg joints of an Imperial AT-AT walker. Honestly, though, I am not sure I buy into either theory.
We’ll find out in about 18 months when the film opens on December 18, 2015.
