John Pinette, 50

JohnPinette2Veteran comedian John Pinette was found dead in his Pittsburgh hotel Saturday from what appears to be a pulmonary embolism. The comedian was also suffering from liver and heart disease. He was 50.

Pinette burst on the scene in the 1980s, where a series of successful Tonight Show appearances led him to the high-profile job of opening for Frank Sinatra. This lead him to a number of television appearances and film roles.

The funnyman most notable roles included Junior, Dear God, and Duets. Comic book movie fans will recognize Pinette as the man who bought Mr. Bumpo to life in 2004’s Punisher. And he would often work films into his comedy routines. One of the funniest bits of his that I remember to this very day was one centered on HervĂ© Villechaize playing Batman.
