Sony Exec States AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Will Set Up SINISTER SIX Movie

It is no secret that Sony is looking to expand their Spider-Man franchise in a way that leverages the various comic book characters that they hold the film rights to. One of those proposed spin off films with focus on the villainous group known as the Sinister Six, many members of which we know will be featured or hinted at in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2 this summer. And now we know somewhat how the one will spin off from the other.

Speaking with EW, Sony honcho Amy Pascal stated the connect between the two.

At the tail end of this movie we set up some of the other characters that will probably end up being in the Sinister Six. We’re going forward on all fronts.

Well, we know that while the primary villain of the new film is Electro (Jamie Foxx) with the Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan) and Rhino (Paul Giamatti) showing up in supporting roles. Plus in the film’s trailers we get hints of other baddies including the Vulture and Doc Octopus (see below). With the Lizard still around from the first film, that’s six villains right there. And that’s not even all of the villain characters that Sony has the rights to. As for now, I remain skeptical about the idea of spinning off the villains just on their own, so hopefully we’ll start to get a better idea as to what to expect from a Sinister Six movie when Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens on May 2.
