Ellen Page has been cast as Judy Belushi-Pisano, wife of John Belushi in director Steve Conrad’s upcoming biopic of the Saturday Night Live star. Page will be starring opposite Emile Hirsch, who was cast last October in the lead role of the iconic comic actor.
John and Judy were high school sweethearts who later married when they were in their mid-20s and their marriage lasted until Belushi’s death at the age of 33 in March 1982. I am not sure that Page looks too much like Belushi-Pisano, but I am still unsure of the casting of Emile Hirsch in the lead role of Belushi.
Conrad’s screenplay for the book is based off of Belushi-Pisano’s memoir of living with her husband and as a producer she is very much involved in the project. So I would imagine that Page will have plenty of time to discuss the role with her.
The still untitled film will cover the years of Belushi’s meteoric rise to fame on the iconic Saturday Night Live and with the films Animal House and The Blues Brothers before his death by drug overdose at age 33.
Shooting is expected to start shooting in New York later this year.
