Joe Wright has landed another actor for his upcoming Peter Pan preqeuel Pan. British actor Adeel Akhat, who has appeared in the dark comedy Four Lions and Sacha Baron Cohan’s comedy The Dictator, has been signed on for the role of Hook’s right-hand man, Smee.
Akhat joins Hugh Jackman, Garrett Hudland and Rooney Mara in the film that will tell the story of how Peter defends Neverland from an invasion of pirates.
The reportage earlier this week on Wright’s casting of Mara as Tiger Lily mentioned that the director was looking to go for an ethnically diverse cast, even though up to that point all we had seen was Caucasian actors being hired. This is probably what the studio sources were hinting at, though I would suspect that as casting continues we will see more diversity.
