Ruth Robinson Duccini, WIZARD OF OZ’s Last Surviving Female Munchkin, 95

DucciniRuth Robinson Duccini, who was the last surviving female from the group of 124 little people actors who portrayed the Munchkins in 1939’s The Wizard Of Oz, has died in Las Vegas after a brief illness. She was 95.

Born Ruth Robinosn in Rush City, Minn. in 1918, Duccini only appeared in two films. The first was MGM’s classic adaptation of the L. Frank Baum story and the second was the 1981 comedy inspired by urban legends about the making of The Wizard Of Oz, Under The Rainbow.

It while was working on the MGM lot that Duccini met her future husband Fred Duccini. The two married in 1942.

With the passing of Duccini, the only Munchikin actor remaining from the Wizard Of Oz cast is Jerry Maren.
