With the start of production looming, actual casting announcements for Star Wars: Episode 7 must be imminent. But until then, we’ll have to content ourselves with more possible rumors. This time, the word is that Breaking Bad‘s Jesse Plemons is in contention for one of the lead roles in the upcoming relaunch of the franchise.
The Wrap is reporting the casting news, sourcing “multiple individuals with knowledge of the top-secret casting process.” It goes on to state –
Plemons is scheduled to meet with director J.J. Abrams next week to discuss the highly anticipated sequel, which is expected to bring back original stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. Plemons has already taped an audition that was well-received by those involved in the casting process, and he’ll by flying in to Los Angeles from Austin, Texas for a second audition that will bring him face-to-face with Abrams.
There’s no word as to what character Plemons could be up for, but speculation is pointing to a vague resemblance to Mark Hamill as a clue that he might play the son of the original trilogy’s Luke Skywalker. I guess that is as good as a guess as any.
