Jennifer Saunders Still Wants To Write AB FAB Movie

Waiting for that promised Absolutely Fabulous movie? Well, the creator of the classic British comedy series Jennifer Saunders is the cause for that delay and she will readily admit that.

Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show in Britain, the comic actress/writer stated that she has been delaying starting work on the screenplay for the film that would see her bringing her and Joanna Lumley’s binge-drinking, hard-partying Patsy and Edina characters to the big screen because of her own her insecurities. Describing herself as the “worst procrastinator in the world,” Saunders elaborated –

It’s like the second album syndrome. Once you’ve had a bit of success, the last thing you want to do is go and make a flop. So the biggest fear in me is that it won’t be good enough. I’m really nervous about it.

Saunders also explained that her sometimes comedy partner Dawn French bet her a £100,000 that she wouldn’t write the film, so now she will “have to write it, otherwise I have to pay her £100,000.”

Back in 2011, Saunders stated that she planned on having the screenplay start off with Patsy and Edina waking up hung over on a deserted millionaire’s yacht adrift in the middle of the ocean. Whether that will still be the starting point or not remains to be seen. Patsy and Edina were last seen on the small screen at the end of 2011/beginning of 2012 in a trio of specials that celebrated the show’s twentieth anniversary.
