If you see an article about some actor or another auditioning for Lucasfilm’s highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII, even if they are making the story up whole cloth, they may still be right.
Saoirse Ronan stated in an interview with Sky News that the rumors of her auditioning for director J J Abrams for a leading role in the new trilogy of films were true, but then added “so has everyone.” She sidestepped further questions on details about the audition, joking that the folks at Lucasfilm would “chop off her head with a light-sabre” if she revealed any more.
There have been a number of stories about various actors going for meetings and auditions for the film, including – Simon Pegg, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ryan Gosling, Zac Ephron and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. While this is true with any film casting process, it is heartening to see that Abrams and company are casting a wide net to find the exact right actors for the part.
With production set to begin on the film early next year, expect concrete casting news to come along sometime in the next few months.
Can’t wait to see what part Abe Vigoda went out for.
I think mine went pretty well. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Bill – I have it on the utmost authority that Vigoda read for Emperor Palpatine’s uncle Vito who is going to be the new Sith villain in the trilogy.
The character called the Sithcilian?

I auditioned for the role of “Stormtrooper of Love”. ABrams just told me to put my pants back on and get the hell out of there.
