The Next Action Star To Join EXPENDABLES 3 Is … Kelsey Grammer?

So if you were casting the next Expendables movie and Nic Cage turns you down for a role, who do you turn to? If you though outside of the box enough to name Kelsey Grammer, you might just have career as a casting agent in Hollywood.

Deadline is reporting that the former sitcom star will be joining the cast of Sly Stallone’s action actor ensemble sequel, playing “Bonaparte, an ex-mercenary who helps the Expendables in their mission.”

But if Cheers‘s and Frasier‘s fussy psychiatrist seems like odd casting for an action film, remember that he received some strong critical reviews for his much darker turn as a political powerbroker in the Showtime series Boss. It was the strength of that performance that led Michael Bay to cast Grammer as a villain in the upcoming Transformers: Age Of Extinction.

Filming is already underway in Bulgaria on the action sequel which is scheduled for a August 15, 2014 release.
