Guy Ritchie has found the villain for his big screen adaptation of the 60s spy series The Man From U.N.C.L.E. in the form of Italian actor Luca Calvani.
According to Deadline, Calvani will play “a wealthy Italian shipping heir who smuggled Nazi gold at end of WWII.” Not really much to go on, but there was a sentence fragment that followed – “Junior’s behind the sale of nuclear weapons.” Given that the actor is only 38, he seems to be a bit young for his character to have a son that is a nuclear arms merchant, unless they do that kind of thing in junior high now. More than likely, Deadline did some sloppy writing to get their exclusive up. It is possible that they meant that Calvani is playing the son of a Nazi gold smuggler and who is selling nuclear arms. I suspect that they will clarify that in an uncredited update.
Calvani will star opposite Henry Cavill as the titular secret agent, Armie Hammer and Alicia Vikander. Shooting has already started in Europe for the film’s as yet unscheduled 2014 release.
