STAR WARS EPISODE VII Still On Course For 2015

Those hoping that this weekend’s D23 Disney expo would yield some new news about Star Wars: Episode VII will be disappointed to learn that there was nothing announced about the film that we didn’t know already.

Studio chairman Alan Horn was the sacrifical lamb who went before the anticipated Star Wars panel and announced that outside of recapping what we already knew about the project – Michael Arndt is scripting, J.J. Abrams is directing, John Williams will provide the score and the film is on track for a summer 2015 release – there would be no new reveals of information on the film. He was greeted with jeers and boos from the crowd who were hoping to be the first to be let in on new information on the production.

I can’t say that I fault the fans for their disappointment. With production set to start in England anywhere between in a few weeks to early next year depending on who you ask, it seemed like a great time and venue to announce casting news. As to when Disney/Lucasfilm will do that now is anyone’s guess.
