When Lily Collins was attached to the long struggling adaptation of Pride And Prejudice And Zombies, it was thought that that might finally be the thing to get the film into production.
Speaking with Collins today during a press event for next week’s The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (and more on that next week), I asked her about the status of the project and she gave me the following update –
I’m waiting on a new script. I’m so excited for it, but I’m waiting. It’s a great project and I’m excited to be doing it.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to follow up as to who was working on this latest rewrite, but it does show that the project is still progressing.
Before current director Burr Steers was attached to the project, David O. Russell was working hard at bringing Seth Grahame Smith’s mash-up novel to the big screen, drafting the latest version of the script that we knew about. I suppose it is understandable that Steers would want a new writer to help put his own spin on things. And if the producers are willing to pay for a new draft than the project isn’t quite the shambling undead thing that it seems to have been in the past.
