“I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come… In your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”
That quote was read by Harry Lennix at San Diego Comic Con after Zach Snyder announced that Batman/Superman would be the next superhero film from Warner Brothers. It was taken from Frank Miller’s seminal The Dark Knight Returns which leads one to believe that the comic will influence the forthcoming film. But the comic might influence the film more than the quote indicates.
The Independent is quoting a source close to Frank Miller who says that Snyder will be meeting with the writer to “go over plans for the Superman film.”
This would not be the first time Miller has been rumored to be involved in making a DC comic film. Back in 2012, the idea of Miller taking over the Justice League was floated to in comic shops to get some ground level feedback.
Of course, we should take this rumor with a grain of salt. Yes, Snyder made a name for himself in bringing Miller’s 300 to the big screen and he made a point of quoting a comic of Miller’s in the SDCC announcement. But this is coming from a UK news outlet, not the most reliable source of information. Don’t forget, it was another UK news outlet that said Karen Gillan was definitely playing Angela in Guardians of the Galaxy and she obviously is not.
Even if it is true, it doesn’t mean that Miller will be a major creative force in the film. Snyder could be just using him as a sounding board. We’ll see.
