The 1990 horror-thriller Jacob’s Ladder is currently in development with screenwriter Jeff Buhler, who wrote the Clive Barker adaptation The Midnight Meat Train, handling the script chores for producers LD Entertainment.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Buhler and the producers are looking to “make something more akin to an homage and not mimic the original. The plan is to contemporize the story with new situations and characters but still maintain a story that examines issues and poses existential questions.”
I suppose that means that the original film’s Vietnam vet character who experiences increasingly bizarre and disturbing hallucinations played by Tim Robbins will get updated to a Gulf War or Afghanistan veteran. The producers are currently looking for a director for the project.
Why? The first one was a total ripoff.
