Cameron Diaz Signs Onto ANNIE

Sandra Bullcok’s loss is Cameron Diaz’s gain. A week after Bullock walked away from negotiations to appear in the new film version of the Broadway hit Annie for a second time, Diaz has closed a deal to take her place.

Diaz is now set to star as Miss Hannigan, the proprietress of the orphanage where the titular poor little rich girl is first found. Quvenzhane Wallis has already been signed to appear as Annie with Jamie Foxx playing a modernized incarnation of Daddy Warbucks, a billionaire named Benjamin Stacks.

Given that she has shown comedy chops in the past, as well as some proficiency as a dancer all the way back in her debut feature The Mask, Diaz certainly seems like a good choice for the role, at the least, an equal one to Bullock.
