Not much to go on here, just a cryptic message from actor Vin Diesel on his Facebook page stating “Marvel has requested a meeting… no idea what for… haha, you probably know better than me…”
Well, I know there are some people who think that Diesel would make a good vision, but I think that the Fast And Furious franchise is too bulked up to portray the android member of the Avengers. Personally, I can see him providing the motion capture performance for the cosmic villain Thanos, whom we briefly glimpsed at the end of The Avengers last summer.
Whatever the role is, we probably won’t see it until the May 2015 release of The Avengers 2 at the earliest. Phase Three of Marvel Studio’s superhero franchises kicks off in the fall of 2015 with Ant-Man and already has three dates in 2016 and 2017 staked out, though no titles have been attached to them. We know that Marvel has been developing a number of new superhero films that we will start to see roll out in Phase Three including possible Dr. Strange and Black Panther flicks. There are lots of possibilities here including T’Challa, the Black Panther himself or perhaps either of two potential Dr. Strange film villains – Baron Mordo or the extra-dimensional being Dormammu.
What character do you think Diesel would be a good fit for?
@FilmBuffOnLine Rocket Raccoon?
Hard to even know if this is a serious casting meeting. I remember Bendict Cumberbatch visiting Marvel Studios – but just for an invited visit.
The other issue is the way Mavrel Studios arrange their filming schedules, with leaving after credit sequences until the last minute. If Diesel is cast for something it could literally be for any of the films that have yet to be released.
My bet would be something to do with GotG. Vance Astro?? The voice of Groot???? No idea!
Drax?
Drax was cast awhile ago, Dave Bautista.
Deadlock?
Marvin.
