Writer Marti Noxon cut her teeth helping to craft the adventures of one butt-kicking lady as a writer/producer on the seminal Buff, The Vampire Slayer. She’ll be taking that experience and applying to another heroic heroine as MGM and GK Films have hired her to pen the screenplay for their planned reboot of the Tomb Raider video game adaptation franchise.
Variety is reporting Noxon’s hiring and offers this as to what the film’s plot may be –
Story is still being worked out but will likely follow archaeologist Lara Croft as she sets off on one of her international adventures.
Well done Variety. Way to go out on a limb with your speculation.
Since Buffy and its spinoff Angel ended, Noxon has worked on a number of television series including Grey’s Anatomy and its spinoff Private Practice, Mad Men and Glee and wrote scripts for the Fright Night remake and I Am Number Four. She also did work on the unproduced Pride And Prejudice And Zombies and Ouija projects. But she has yet to find the real kind of breakout success that many thought would be hers following Buffy. A Tomb Raider film definitely plays to her strengths so perhaps this will be the film that launches her career to the next level.
