Marvel Studios is interested in Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson to take the part of the mutant superhero Quicksilver for 2015’s The Avengers 2. Deadline is reporting that the studio is hoping to sign the actor for the superhero sequel providing some schedule conflicts can be resolved.
Ironically, Taylor-Johnson’s Kick Ass franchise co-star Evan Peters has been cast as Quicksilver in Twentieth Century Fox’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past.
Thanks to what appears to be a loophole in the rights contract for the X-Men franchise, it appears as if both Fox and Marvel can use the characters of Quicksilver and his sister Scarlet Witch in their films. Marvel was the first to announce the use of the characters back in May when Joss Whedon confirmed that the pair would be appearing in May 2015’s The Avengers 2. Bryan Singer, the director of Days Of Future Past, tweeted a few days later that he had cast Peters as Quicksilver in his film, due next summer. So far, everyone seems to be playing nice over this and hopefully will continue to do so. But remember, this is Hollywood and I am sure that there will be some lawyer somewhere who will raise a fuss.
