Is This The IRON MAN 3 Tag Scene? (Spoilers)

The post-credit scene in Marvel Studio’s movies have become something that fans have looked forward to ever since the first one in 2008’s Iron Man hinted at the overall direction the studio was going to be taking their superhero franchises. They’ve also been kept under wraps by the studio for as long as possible in order to preserve their surprise. So if you want to stay spoiler-free until Iron Man 3 open in a few weeks, I would suggest reading no further.

Iron Man 3 premiered in Paris last night and someone who was there sent the following description of the film’s tag scene to Latino Review.

It starts with a close shot of Tony Stark on a couch talking about his various traumas, obviously he’s talking to someone, as if he was seeing a shrink, the tone of the scene is light and supposedly funny. Then we discover that the person he’s talking to is Bruce Banner/Mark Ruffalo, who fell asleep because of Tony’s boring story. Tony remarks that Banner has been sleeping during the most part of his story and yells at him, and Banner just mumbles and says “You know, I’m not that kind of doctor!” Then Tony recalls another memory and resumes his monologue, and then we see Banner starting to fall asleep again.

Now while we’ve had our issues with the veracity of various stories from Latino Review in the past (to put it mildly), but as we’re so close to the release of the film I feel that this one is probably true. It certainly would make sense for Marvel to exploit the chemistry between Downey Jr. and Ruffalo that we saw in The Avengers. Of course, this does fly in the face with the rumor that circulated that Iron Man 3 would end with Tony Stark heading into outer space in one of his specialty armors. We’ll find out the truth in just a few short weeks when Iron Man 3 opens on May 3.

Number one, it’s an El Mayimbe rumor. That makes it 99.5% that it will not be true. And number two, the button scenes typically serve the purpose of tease for what’s coming up later on in the phase. Unless Avengers 2 is going to be 2 and a half hours of the heroes sitting on the couch, talking about their feelings, this probably isn’t the button scene, or the only button scene.
