Earlier this week, actor Morris Chestnut set off a flurry of speculation about Marvel Studios’ plans for a big screen appearance of the superhero Black Panther when he tweeted and facebooked “It’s time to get familiar with the Black Panther!” That speculation was further fanned when he deleted the posts just a few hours later.
So is he up for the role of the African prince who fights injustice or not? Chestnut took to twitter to try and set things straight.
Thx to the fans for bringing #blackpanther to my attention, NOT in talks about this project with .@Marvel

Of course, it is easy to not take it his clarification at face value. After all, it is fun to say that he took the original posts down and is just trying to obfuscate things in order to please Marvel. I suppose that it is possible, though I doubt that it is likely. The earliest we could conceivable see an appearance from Black Panther would be in The Avengers 2 in 2015 and I don’t see the studio starting any casting for some time yet.
