Universal is looking at bringing Dr. Seuss’s classic 1957 holiday tale How The Grinch Stole Christmas back to the theaters. This time the studio is planning on a 3D animated version of the story. They’ve set commercials and music video director Peter Candeland to direct.
Well, I guess if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Sure the 2000 live action version of Seuss’s classic tale did $260 million at the box office, it did not score well with critics. Will a new version fare better? It’s hard to say. No writer has been attached to the film yet. And when one is found, they’ll have to find a way to expand a story out from the original children’s book that seemed to fit just fine into a half-hour animated special the way it did for the 1966 classic.
