Although Japanese artist Leiji Matsumoton is perhaps best known among anime fans in the United States for his series Space Battleship Yamato, aka Starblazers, but his series Space Pirate Captain Harlock has its fans as well. And they may be interested to know that Appleseed creator Shinji Aramaki has directed a CG adaptation of the series which is set for a release in Japan next fall.
There’s no word as to whether the film will get a US release, but considering that the 2011 live action film adaptation of the more popular Space Battleship Yamato still hasn’t secured a distributor, I’m not going to be holding my breath.
