With just two and a half weeks to go before The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is released, the folks behind the production are still rushing about putting the finishing touches on the first part of Peter Jackson’s three-part adaptation of J R R Tolkien’s classic novel. And Jackson has released a new behind-the-scenes video blog showing how a number of the post-production departments contribute to the process of finishing the film.
As with a number of past video blogs, there are some quick flashes of things from the film we haven’t yet officially seen and one or two of them raises some questions. The production blogs have been very careful about only revealing things that will be in the first film. So what to make of the ADR folks recording the friends and families for the screams of the people of Lake Town when they are attacked by Smaug the dragon? Is this for a flashback showing the dragon’s first descent onto the town when he drove the dwarfs out of the Lonely Mountain or are we seeing a bit of work for the second film, The Desolation Of Smaug, in which we will probably see the story’s main attack on Lake Town by the Smaug?
We’ll find out December 14.
