Judy Garland’s iconic blue gingham dress worn in The Wizard Of Oz managed to fetch $480, thousand at auction, the highest priced piece of Hollywood costuming memorabilia to go under the hammer at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills this weekend. The auction house stated that it is the only intact dress and blouse combination of the famed costume worn in the 1939 classic.
Additionally, a lot of Oz publicity material that included a keybook, continuity and photos sold for $33,750.
Julie Andrews’ The Sound of Music green floral dress brought $38,400 while the purple wool skirt Marilyn Monroe wore while filming River Of No Return brought $50,000. A Jayne Mansfield cat print jumpsuit went for $16,250.
Sunglasses were also a popular item, with a pair worn by Jean Reno in Leon: The Professional going for $8,320. A pair of John Belushi’s sunglasses from The Blues Brothers went for twice that amount at $16,640 while a digital watch that Belushi wore in the film went for $15,000.
