Lots of hearsay flying about as to who may be directing the first, and possibly subsequent, new Star Wars film announced by Disney two weeks ago. But we feel that producer Frank Marshall may be a good source for information on what is going on in the production. After all, he is married to Kathleen Kennedy, who was appointed President of Lucasfilm after it was bought by Disney and will be the producer on the new Star Wars films.
MTV managed to catch up with Marshall and asked him point blank if he knew who might be up for the job. He replied –
I do but I can’t reveal it, or I won’t be alive tomorrow… It know that there’s a couple of candidates but I don’t know how soon that will be revealed.
So who do we think is in the studio’s shortlist? Well, I still feel that Colin Trevorrow is in the mix, despite his relative lack-of-experience with big budget films. As to who else, it is still a wide open race but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was someone who was already in Disney’s stable such as Jon Favreau or Gore Verbinski.
