DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES Gets New Writer

With Matt Reeves stepping in to take over Twentieth Century Fox’s Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, he has wasted little time in bringing in another writer to work on the screenplay. The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog is stating that Wolverine writer Wolverine Mark Bomback has been brought on board to take a pass through the script.

Bomback will be working from original writers Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa’s draft, tailoring the material towards Reeves’s strengths. Scott Burns had previously done a polish on the screenplay, but that was while Rise director Rubert Wyatt was still attached to the project.

This isn’t Bomback’s first encounter with the franchise. He did some uncredited rewriting work on the last year’s franchise reboot Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. Bomback also has credits on credits Live Free Or Die Hard as well as the recent Total Recall remake.

Bomback will have little time to do his work if the film is going to get in front of cameras in time to meet its scheduled release date of May 23, 2014.
