PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5 May By Shooting By End Of Year

Even before the release of the fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean film On Stranger Tides, Disney was developing a fifth installment of the franchise with previous installments co-writer Terry Rossio working on a screenplay. It now appears that the studio may be moving forward with production on it.

Caribbean Business is reporting that the studio is gearing up to film Pirates 5 in Puerto Rico, with Puerto Rico Film Commission Executive Director Mariella Pérez stating that Disney picked the location over Hawaii. The article goes on to state that filming culd begin as early as November.

Although some scenes for On Stranger Tides were shot in Puerto Rico, the majority of the film was shot in Hawaii.

If true, I would expect that in the next several weeks we’ll start to hear more details from Disney including such pesky little things as to the hiring of a director and cast.
