A third Bill And Ted film might be a bit closer to the screen than we previously thought as word is coming out that Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot has been attached to the project. Currently, Bill And Ted creators Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson are shopping the project to various studios in the hopes that someone would be interested in co-financing the film alongside property owner MGM. Given that Alex Winter and Kaenu Reeves are both on board to reprise their iconic roles of the dimwitted duo.
If a co-production sounds like an odd move for MGM, they recently struck a similar deal with Paramount for their planned remake of the 1983 comedy Valley Girl.
So will any studio rise to the occasion? I certainly hope so as a fan of the first two Bill And Ted films. This has been a project I’ve been following since word first started floating around that there was a screenplay. And since Solomon and Matheson wrote the script on spec with no guarantee that they would earn a dime. That shows me that they have a story that they are passionate to tell. And that makes me want to see it all the more.
